Why Squarespace

Why Squarespace?

Why Squarespace

Why Squarespace?

  • Tried various other website builders (Wix, etc)

    • (You had me at parallax scrolling)

  • Squarespace offers flexibility with easy injection of custom css and js

    • (That’s the “tech” part of this tech talk)

  • A variety of nice starter templates are available

  • Decent developer community

    • (Online Q&A forum reminds me of the Turbotax community forum)

  • Jeff Bridges has a lot of clout in the browser based website building community

Squarespace Shortcomings

Squarespace Shortcomings

  • No site backup/export/version control

    • There are ways to get around this, but nothing is a silver bullet

    • I should utilize Fortitude’s github page to version control the custom CSS and Javascript

      • (Mike, why haven't you already done this?!?)

    • Be careful when publishing blogs!

  • It’s a browser based point-and-click tool
    • (This makes me feel 'dirty' as someone who actually develops web applications for 'scratch' as my job.)
